酒井抱一の《秋草鶉図》を元に、背景除去時のイメージを絵画化した作品です。
部分的に金箔（純金箔）を使用し、部分的に現れる「除去できなかった金地背景」を表現しています。黒いバーや蛍光イエローの付箋はディスプレイを暗示します。背景が市松模様になると、滑らかに円を描く月の輪郭がガタガタに見える「錯視」も面白いものです。
Based on Sakai Hōitsu's Autumn Grasses and Quail, this work depicts the image that would appear if the background were removed.
Gold leaf (pure gold leaf) is used in some areas to represent the "gold background that could not be removed." The black bars and fluorescent yellow sticky notes suggest a display. The checkered background creates an interesting optical illusion, as the smoothly circular outline of the moon appears jagged.
